Portola-Butler Continuation High School

2017 Graduates

Principal's Message

Well it is that time again and we are preparing for our students to arrive on Monday, August 7, 2017. This past spring the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) visited our school to see how we were doing here academically, socially and how we were working with the community at-large. The WASC Team was very pleased with what we were doing her at Portola-Butler High School. They reinstated our last four years of the present term and we are now fully accredited through 2021. I want to thank all of you for your hard work and dedication to our school.

The one area of concern for the WASC Team was with our parent involvement and how we can do better job with getting our parents involved with our School Site Council (SSC) and our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). We will be having several parent nights this year at Portola-Butler to get the message out on what we do here at the high school.

Finally, I want to again take this time to let you all know how much I look forward to working with all of you this school-year. They say it takes a village to have positive change and this is very true, but I want us all to become the village builders as we create opportunities for our students to become productive members of society. All of us working together can make this happen. Walt Disney once said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” I have an open door policy, so please stop by and see me anytime. Thank you…
